ONE`S NATURE

Born in late winter

I peeked at March`s

roaring lion.

Some friends showed

an inkling, a budding

the adventurous ones.

My Mother, feeding me,

whispered

"Nature is always such,

sentinels must be sacrificed.

The Goddess Hera demands

payment for Her warmth."

I close my eyes

`til showers come,

my Mother`s milk is flowing,

pouring into me.

Then I stand,

prideful and strong,

my family branch

a bloom of green.

Birds alit,

butterflies aflutter.

I find myself smiling

as my nature

reveals itself.

A magnificent piece of artistry. Your style reminds me of someone but I cannot remember who ... so, off I am wondering for the rest of the evening.

V,

I love your metaphors and the way your soul is laced with tranquility and peace.

"Birds alit,

butterflies aflutter.

I find myself smiling

as my nature

reveals itself."

With T`s permission, I`m going to quote an Email exchange we`ve had about this poem. Thanks, T.

V,

Don't you dare laugh, but by God I do believe I understand your poem.  I tried to read all sorts of stuff into it only it truly is about nature, a tree and a leaf.

To me your poem is about spiritual growth, appreciation of family, love, life and most of all transition. My interpretation is a lot more romantic, don't you agree?

Poetry truly is like visual art; highly subjective and extremely personal. You write on so many levels Vince, and though you say this poem is about nature, I see many metaphors.

Birds alit,
butterflies aflutter.

I find myself smiling

as my nature

reveals itself.

Thank you, T.
I really appreciate the time you put into your understanding of the poem. Maybe I sometimes act like I dont realize the deeper meanings and more personal revelations that my poetry shows. {especially after they`ve just been written.}

But, though I hold a Ph. D. in clinical psychology, I still can only see the poem from that perspective, dampened by my own personal demons.

I love it when I get a true Artist`s perspective.

Hugs,
V

The birth of one's nature is surely a miracle. :)

Vince, I hope to be the caliber writer you are one day. ABSOLUTELY beautiful.  This for me is the mirror of Frost.  When I think about his poetry, I see Fall's image...this is it's mirror...Spring. ;)  C.  http://journals.aol.com/gdireneoe/thedailies
