" Absence of Muse " A Poem

 The words, extremely numerous,

so easily caught,

are strewn upon the pages,

yet cannot sense the thought.

The poet rearranges,

the battle fiercely fought,

without aid from Calliope,

this time, perhaps, for naught.

AHA!  It seems you need the assistance of a SYSTEM!  How melodic it would appear if creator and creation would only organize as one living soul!  Go forward master poet!  Go forward!  UNITE!

Art helps us to arrange the confusion of life into "snapshots" we can take in, comprehend.  Is Calliope your muse?

Hi Theresa. Calliope was the Greek Muse of Epic Poetry.

I like how the word "battle" resonates - and the connotation of the struggle for the writer.  I keep thinking it's easy...for everybody else.  Thanks for writing and sharing the poem!  Beth

A wonderful description of the confusion and order that is poetry.

Thanks for the Ram Dass comment in my journal - he means a great deal to me and it is my dream to be able to afford to attend one of his weeklong seminars before it is too late.

Very nice reflection on the vagaries of creativity.

Not for naught ~ never for naught!  ;)

right before I came here I was reading "Dad's tomato garden journal" and he had a photo up of Calliope the dog...then come here and read the same unusal name again...synchronicity  at work!
